At the end of February, our first lamb was born, a little ewe lamb. She's so cute.
When Lena gets near the barn she says, "See lamb?" She loves petting it.
She can take forever finding a comfortable spot on Mama's back. I'll often see her snuggled up on Mama's back, basking in the sunlight coming through the nearby window.
Karl climbs up the side of the milk house. There's so much snow this year!
We went out on Saturday to tap our maple trees. It was the first warm (25-30 degree) day we've had in a long time. Nora was Dad's bucket and lid runner. Clare had skied out and was having fun skiing in between the trees. Karl was busy finding sticks to build a fort.
Eating snow. A favorite winter activity for all our kids.
Watching Matt set taps.
Just a little cutie in the snow. She doesn't like to keep her mittens on (ever) so we replaced these often during the hour or so we were in the woods.
Matt and his big helper.
Waiting for the last tree to be tapped. (The barn is in the background with the white snow-covered roof, nestled among the trees. It looks so little and far away in this picture.)
Karl has been begging Matt for a sanding project. He purchased his own sander ("like Dad's") at a garage sale this past summer for super cheap and it makes him feel like a really big boy. He was thrilled when Matt had some old boards that "needed" sanding. (The background is one of our new bedrooms, all drywalled and ready for primer and paint!)
