Spring break, Part I

I asked the girls to sort beans for the soup one night, meaning: look for little rocks hidden amongst the beans.  They took me literally and divided all their beans up according to color.  It kept them busy for quite awhile. (Karl was sorting beans too but was asked to leave the kitchen when he started throwing them in the air and sprinkling them on his head...)

Over spring break we headed to the far south - Escanaba.  We stayed in a hotel with a really nice pool for two nights and our friends who live in Eski came to visit and swim and we spent some time at their house as well.

Karl in his green goggles, which he lost the first day.
Here's fearless Nora, flying out of the water slide.  She was the first of our kids to try it.  She loved it until on the third time down she got water up her nose.

Here's Clare, who is still not confident in the water without floatation.  She's geared up for the water slide.  She did get braver this trip: by the end she was having fun dunking under.  Prior to this, she'd refuse to get her face wet.

It was a really fun pool!

Watching morning cartoons:

This girl was ready to swim DAYS before we left for our trip.  "On spring break, I swim!"
Here she is at the hotel, dressed and ready before the others:

Little Lena enjoyed the heat of the pool area, sleeping most of the time:

She's got some baby acne, just like Karl had.
And just for fun, here's our girl almost 2 months old!  Time flies.
