A Visit to Mr. Steve's

One evening not too long ago we went to visit Mr. Steve's farm so the kids could see his lambs.  He lives less than two miles away, so we often see the lambs when we're driving to and from town.

Clare and Karl feed the lambs:

Nora's turn:

Steve has plenty of Scottish highland cattle too.  Clare made friends with one of them, who kept licking her hand.  It was in the middle of this adventure that Nora said, "Have to go potty."  Oh, the joys and trials of a newly potty-trained child!

Up in the hayloft, SO much fun for the kids:

We're guessing Steve is subtly trying to get us to raise steers for meat.  He mentioned it to me once on a quick visit to our farm: "You were thinking of using some of this pasture to raise steers, right?"  Well, no, actually!  And then on that same trip, dropping off an amazingly delicious roast of grass-fed beef that we turned into an Easter dinner.  And we know people who would gladly pay to get a quarter or half of a grass-fed steer, so.... maybe when the kids are bigger and not as likely to get trampled by an animal many times their size, we'll consider it.
