Digging carrots, etc.

It's so nice to live in an area that gets plenty of snow to act as an insulating blanket for the carrots.  So much easier to over-winter them in the ground than elsewhere.  But, it's also a bit of dirty work to dig them up.  Fun, though.  Especially for the kids.

While we were outside, our fool of a dog mistook one of our young apple trees for a scrap tree and bit off the top two feet of it in hopes of playing fetch.  (They are so buried by snow right now that they do look like little twigs, but STILL.)  So much for Matt's careful work surrounding their trunks with PVC pipe to keep the bunnies away.  Our own dog was a bigger problem.  (Not surprising, really... this is the dog that broke her tail, ate rat poison, and needed stomach surgery and spent several days in the vet hospital.)

Karl hugs a big one.  We had to dig out almost 2 feet of snow to reach them.
Clare likes eating raw flour.  Ick.  Karl sprinkles cinnamon-sugar on the inside of his loaf.
It's been a long time since we've made bread... buying store bread is so much easier. But grilled cheese just doesn't taste the same on store bread.  And Clare and Karl have been wanting to make their own little loaves.  So thankfully on Saturday God gave me an extra large dose of patience and we made bread.  I didn't even have to leave the room to keep from complaining about the mess (amazing, and rare).

I didn't notice until now that Nora has the measuring cup and is trying to get the lid off the flour.  THAT could have been interesting!
And more of Nora's dolls, just because she's so cute with them:

Two funny things lately:

Karl got put in time-out.  "Time-out, Karl.  3 minutes."
Karl: "No!  100 minutes!"
He's learning his numbers but not how much they stand for, apparently.

And:
We looked and looked for Nora's church boots on Sunday only to find them today in... the washing machine.
