Our week away

I'm in the middle of a good book right now, so this post is going to be short, mostly pictures.  :-) Nothing like a good book to completely distract me from all the necessary duties in my life (like blog posts).
Clare was the good traveler she's always been as we headed to MN over a week ago.  We stopped at a National Forest wayside/ski trail head to give Clare her dinner.  She ate it tail-gate style while Molly romped around in the woods and Matt and I swatted the black flies away from ourselves and Clare.

We got out for only two walks the whole week as rain, high winds, and cool temps kept us indoors.  Although I'm so glad I live in MI where there are trees, trees, trees, there's something about seeing the clouds so low on the horizon and watching sunrises over fields instead of lakes.

Clare was thrilled with her corn popper birthday present and showed us how to use it right away.

We spent Father's Day with cousins Ben and Elsa in WI.  Clare loved swinging with her cousin.  In honor of Father's Day, she's been saying "Daddy!" lately whenever she sees Matt.  If she wakes up from her nap, she'll say, "Daddy?" and look for him downstairs.  We were at the grocery store and she saw a guy (who I didn't think looked anything like my handsome husband, but he had dark hair so I guess that's close enough) and Clare called "Daddy!  Daddy!" down the aisle.  It was pretty funny.

Clare's favorite new past time: playing with her dishes set.  She really likes it when I serve her Cheerios snack on one of the little blue plates.  The fake peas and carrots have gotten their share of nibbling as well.

And Molly, poor dog -- too much fun in one week.  Not only did she sleep all the way home, she spent most of this week sleeping too.  I love how she's curled up with her blanket while the rain falls lightly outside.

And that's it!  Back to my book.  :-)
