I have always loved traveling and spending time with friends.
I still love traveling and spending time with friends.
BUT
I have discovered that when you have a young child there is nothing quite so sweet as being home.
Home, where there is a familiar crib in a darkened room... a regular, predictable routine...all the baby things you need at your fingertips: sippy cups, little bowls, little spoons, bibs, diaper wipes, etc.
We had been away from home way too often in March. Clare and I to Traverse City one weekend, Marquette the next, and MN for the week after that, all of which were wonderful and worth it, but the combination of so many trips in such a short space of time took their toll on Clare.
Clare is thriving now that she is back on her regular schedule. Matt said that yesterday was the first day all week that she smiled for him when he came home. Usually she laughs and grins an enormous grin when she sees him, but Monday and Tuesday she was just too tired.
And, thanks to regular naps and early bedtimes, our little peanut slept soundly last night and we did too. (Yay!)
Tonight, with two solid naps and an hour's walk with mommy and daddy before dinner and bedtime, our sweet little babe went down without a peep and has been sleeping solidly ever since.
Ah, home sweet home. :)
