Building forts...

Yesterday in the woods at Tech trails I saw a young girl, perhaps 14 years old, who had been wandering around in the woods off the trail (of course I was curious because you don't usually see that).  She'd already met Molly and was throwing a stick for her and apparently enjoyed the fact that Molly brought the stick back to her and dropped it at her feet.

Anyway, she said she was looking for a tree to build a fort in, "You know, one of those trees with a Y in it so I can lean another branch up against it..." I knew exactly what she was talking about.  How often did my brothers and I look for just such a tree!

That just made my day.  I'm so glad that there are still some kids (and teenagers!) left in the world who are content to hang out in the woods all day with nothing but their imaginations (and the trees, birds and squirrels) for company.  I love it!

Awesome! Good to know that kids' imaginations are still working! :) Have you ever read the book "Last Child in the Woods"? I've been meaning to pick it up...
