Back in the harness again...
Clare and I went to Marquette today to get another ultrasound of her hips done and meet with Dr. Southern. Although her hips have made progress, they haven't made enough progress, so the Dr. is putting Clare back into the harness full time for another month. I was so disappointed to hear that. Not that the harness is as bad as surgery would be later if this problem isn't corrected now, but that she was starting to really enjoy using her legs and getting more used to "tummy time". In the harness, she can't do tummy time because it pins her face to the ground. She also can't kick her legs around to strengthen them.
I was enjoying having my "normal" baby back for the past two weeks when she was out of it to see how her hips did on their own. I still think I'll give her a few minutes out of the harness each day to be on her belly, and at every diaper change I'll have to take her legs out of her harness so they'll get to stretch a little then.
I also ordered her an activity mat since she'll be spending more time on her back in the next month. Especially now that she can't use the Bumbo chair that she LOVED, this will be something to amuse her and at least she'll get to use her arms to bat at the toys.
*Sigh* I am trying not to be too disappointed because there are many worse things that could have happened to her (so many babies and their parents have much worse things to deal with), but at the same time it's hard to see her "harnessed up" again. She'll also have to wear a splint thing for about six months after that, for nighttime and naps. Despite how let down I feel, I am so thankful that they're taking care of this problem now, when she's too young to really know the difference and when her hips are still developing and easier to "fix".

Oh bummer! I'm sorry to hear this Amy. Praying that the next check shows she's right where she needs to be.
