On our pantry shelf, I found a box of lemon-poppy seed muffin mix and decided to make them. After frosting them with a lemon glaze, I left them on the table to finish cooling completely and headed to the living room to grade.
Shortly afterward, I heard a woof from Molly. Although she occasionally barks in the house, it's always directed toward the front door or window, never in the kitchen. Going to investigate, I discovered my cat Shadow on the table ready to lick the frosting. I swatted her down and booted her toward the basement. Then I praised Molly for "tattling".
I moved the cooling rack to the counter, then began wiping down the table. I swiped up some of the frosting with my finger and let Molly lick it. That was a mistake. I finished wiping the table and headed again for the living room, where I saw Molly polishing off what remained of a muffin! She must have quietly jumped up high enough to swipe a muffin off the counter and run into the living room without me noticing! She got the naughty dog lecture and spent the next 5 minutes in her kennel where she couldn't see me laughing about it!

Haaa haa ha! Just wait til you have kids. All the good behavior that dogs learn before kids come suddenly go out the window after kids. Tucker NEVER used to grab food off the table or counter and now suddenly he is doing it. I remove the girls from the table and help them wash up only to come back to find that Tucker is licking the table and the used-to-be mostly empty plates are now empty.
Sassy pets! Perhaps Molly barked because she wanted some too...
