I've forgotten what phase of the remodel we are on. Our exterior is done (except for fixing the steps in front and back and some landscaping) and our living room is done (except for trim), and the kids' upstairs bedrooms are done. So maybe we are on Phase 4. When we're living in the house, all the remodeling has to be done strategically.
Now we're starting the next big project: the upstairs library, our bedroom, and spare room. The goal is to sister in new joists, replace the old sub floor with new, and then hire out the drywall before we prime, paint, and put in a new floor.
Here the girls are watching as Matt removes existing stud walls in order to fix the floor. Some might wonder why we are fixing the joists. Well, there is a 4 inch difference (approximately, I've actually never measured) in heights between the kids' new bedrooms and the old part of the house. Also, there is a decent amount of bounce and squeak in the old floor that will be fixed by replacing the sub floor. Plus, Matt never does a job half-way. This house is going to be amazing when he's done with it.
