Critters and more

Twelve ducks were hatched on our farm this spring, hatched and raised by two chickens.  This Buff Orpington is leading her brood of ducklings back to the coop.

This poor little guy got stuck outside the fence.  We had to scoop him up and give him back to his mama.

Out foraging.

I loved our garden this year.  Finally felt somewhat on top of the weeds after four summers here.

What must it feel like to have many of these plants towering over one's head?

Raspberries were good this year. Lena loved picking (and eating).  They didn't stay long in her bucket, if they got there at all.  Reminded me of Blueberries for Sal.

These woolies enjoyed my weeding and thinning efforts - Daisy (on right) has a mouthful of cilantro.

This kitty has enjoyed some house privileges ever since she ran off and was lost for two weeks.  I thought, Why have a cat if we can't enjoy her? Especially when she's such a friendly cat. (Previously she was in the barn and basement, supposedly hunting mice.)  And so the kids have been soaking up her affection.

Amazingly I am not sick of the garden yet.  Maybe because our tomatoes aren't ripe (yet! and it's the end of September) or because I've almost forgotten there are two beds of beets to be eaten or pickled. Hm.

Someone was super tired after her nap so she got moved to the garden to finish waking up.

The first beet harvest is in jars in the basement.  Several more batches to go.

We had picked some carrots and they disappeared.  Apparently they were needed to make soup in the  play house.

Love the pictures! Your kitty looks like she is so gentle and sweet! Our cat will not snuggle with the boys unless they are sleeping. Ha ha! She always tries to climb into my lap when I am knitting. That doesn't usually end well. ;) I am amazed by your garden yet again. I can almost taste those amazing beets. Yum!
