Ice Skating

Friends of ours have a really nice outdoor ice rink.  We took the kids skating for the first time two weeks ago.  They went again this past week when Clare had a half day at school.  It's amazing how much kids can learn after just two times on ice.  They were doing so much better the second time out, so much more confident!

Nora getting pushed by her much older, and very competent skater, friend.

Riding in the scoop:

Karl, pushing a chair for balance.

The first day, Karl and Nora clung to chairs (Nora couldn't push hers without help) or got rides in the scoop.  The second day, Karl was all over the ice on his own and Nora was pushing her chair all by herself.  It was great seeing them have so much fun.  My friend watched Lena in the house and even got her to take a 45 minute nap!
