Snow Day

On Wednesday, Clare and Matt had their first snow day of the winter.  Clare slept in until 7:20 and was glad to hear there wasn't school.  (Matt had already gone to school because the system was down that sends text messages out to the teachers.  Not that it mattered; he usually goes in on snow days to catch up anyway.  But then he also comes home earlier than usual, which is very nice for us.) 

Since there was no school, Clare and Karl snuggled up on the couch to play their Leap Pads in their pjs. 

Clare loves being home.  She built a huge tower using almost all of our Mega Blocks, then discovered a way to make a homemade yo-yo using a circular block of wood and rubber bands.  That kept her and Karl entertained for well over an hour and thankfully no one got hit in the head.  (I did warn them that if their "yo-yo" got stuck on something they shouldn't yank on it to free it...)

Clare still loves doing projects.  We browsed the web for Valentine's day projects and she liked this one: 

All in all, it was a great snow day.  I really do miss Clare when she's at school all day.  Especially now that she's adjusted to the strain of all-day kindergarten and is not a grouch when she's at home. 

Oh, and a little funny thing about Karl.  You know when your boy loves his construction equipment when you ask what he's drawing and his response is "asphalt reclaimer".   (And lest you think we've an artistic prodigy on our hands, his drawing consisted of scribbles with two lopsided circles (wheels) and an oval that he insisted was a rectangle.)
