A good year

Clare holds some very heavy heads of broccoli.
Our garden did very well this year, mostly due to all the rain.  I don't think we turned on our soaker hoses more than once.  Even our tomatoes did well though they didn't get ripe until mid-September, into October.  It was a nice, long fall for vegetables.  We were still picking broccoli on the 26th of October.  Crazy.

Helping dig carrots.
Most of our carrots are still in the ground, buried under a nice insulating blanket of snow.  We'll dig them up as we need them through the winter.  It's a lot more work to dig them up from under the snow but they taste so absolutely amazing after a frost.  Plus, it's great storage where I know they'll keep and not go bad.
