drawing & scissors

Clare loves "pwah-jects" of any kind - coloring, drawing, painting, glue-sticking and lately - cutting.  I was sorting photos tonight and pulled a few of her projects from the past several months.

This drawing was from August.  I asked her to tell me about it and she said, "It's a puppy.  You can tell it's a puppy because it has big floppy ears and a wet, slobbery nose."

Karl is in the middle.  Clare made sure to point out his really long hair.

And I guess I don't have to worry about her cutting abilities. She got her first pair of scissors for her birthday and has given them more mileage than her crayons lately.  Her favorite "pwah-ject" is cutting out a shape I've drawn for her.  Here I drew four pumpkin shapes and she cut out her own eyes and nose and mouth and then cut out the pumpkins themselves.  She refuses to hold the scissors the correct way but what she's doing is working out pretty well for now.  I was impressed by how well she could cut on the lines.  Since the pumpkins she's done flowers, stems, leaves, hearts and a turkey with feathers.
