Lambs!

Spring IS here... I saw a robin the other day, hopping about in our yard... the snow is quickly melting... tomorrow the temps should be high 40s, low 50s... and today we visited my friend J's home to see their baby lambs.  I was curious to see what Clare's reaction would be.

Clare met the donkey first, who took a real liking to her and made her cry with his boldness.  I didn't realize this, but if you keep sheep in a pasture, it's safest to have either a donkey, a llama, or a dog always with them as a protector.  This donkey has kept this sheep herd safe for three years, and they follow him around the pasture.

I really hope Clare grows up loving animals.  She loves Molly and generally she likes all big dogs.  J has a little dog, about the same height as Clare when she's on all fours, and Clare cried every time he came near.  I'm not sure why.  She seemed to like the sheep and even petted one of the lambs.  I'm looking forward to taking her to the fair in August to see the livestock barn.

Such sweet photos! I am sooo excited to take the girls to the Detroit Zoo in a couple more weeks. Hopefully the weather cooperates. We got blasted with snow yesterday (had a snow day even!) and now we must wait for it to melt again. :(
