Florida Flora

One of the neatest things about going away to the south in the middle of our UP winters is seeing (and smelling) flowers and green growing things. Our evergreens here are beautiful in the winter, especially when covered with a fresh blanket of snow, but everything else is dead or buried.

The palms were gorgeous, especially the royal palms which Cathy pointed out -- the ones that grow tall, straight, and smooth with their fronds at the very top. I have no idea what the flowers were called, but the top pink one sure smelled wonderful.



There were quite a few coconuts awash on the beach, some hollow, some full, some halved like this one.
The beach entrance looks slightly mysterious but that gorgeous blue of the ocean beckons you quickly to the other side.
