These pictures are from last Sunday, when we took Molly snowshoeing in the area where we hunt every fall. We always walk the bike/ski trail to get up there, and it's a hefty walk with full hunting gear, let alone snowshoes. I was sweating by the time we reached the "top" of the hill, and for someone like me who spends most the winter in two long sleeves and a hooded sweatshirt in her own home, it takes a lot to make me sweat. I thought pregnancy might make me feel warmer, as they say it does, but I don't seem to have lucked out in that category.

Matt and I had to come up here to take down the Screamin' Eagle stand that was my post for most of October and early November. I sat in this oak tree through drizzly rain, sunrise and sunset, "morning" sickness, and stiff breezes. Only once in all those days of sitting did I see a deer close enough to shoot. And it was too small.
Molly loved fetching her stick in the drifts. Her white face was so cute I had to post a video.
Actually, I really liked the way this first one ended, but her white face shows up better in this next video.
When we were first married, we talked about wanting to get a dog, a good, even-tempered mutt. Of course, you never know exactly what you're getting with a mutt, but our Molly is one of the sweetest, most affectionate dogs I've ever known. She loves the outdoors as much as -- or even more than -- we do.
